Today we received an email from our agency stating that the orphanage director had finally agreed to take Tessa to see an eye specialist. Unfortunately they will have to travel to a hospital in Changsha which is a 5 hour drive each way. I'm guessing they will probably stay over night in the Social Welfare Institute in Changsha before returning to the orphanage the following day. An agency representative is planning on meeting them in Changsha so she can see Tessa and report back to the NYC office. The representative is hoping something can be arranged within the next few days.
One thing that was mentioned in the email that has us confused is that the orphanage director mentioned that “the baby’s shoulder began to be a little oblique last year”. We have no idea what that means. When we look at Tessa's photos if anything her shoulders appear squared off. I spent hours on the Internet trying to find information with no success. Michael seems to think maybe the director’s phrasing was lost in the translation. Tomorrow I will be calling the agency to see what I can find out. I am trying my best not to stress over this latest comment. Michael is doing a much better job at this than I am.
